Looking for longer, fuller and darker lashes? Latisse® is FDA approved and clinically proven to produce significant eyelash growth. While there are eyelash serum alternatives, studies of Latisse® have shown that users experienced 106% fuller, 25% longer and 18% darker eyelashes after 16 weeks of daily use.1

The active ingredient in Latisse®, bimatoprost, is FDA approved for sale as a generic. Generic bimatoprost eyelash serum delivers the same results at a fraction of the cost of name brand.

Achieving desired results with generic Latisse® all starts with the application. In this article, we’ve summarized all the tips and tricks for applying bimatoprost.

Step-by-Step Application Guide

Step 1: Remove glasses or contacts. Thoroughly clean your eyelids, lashes and surrounding area.

Step 2: Remove one applicator from the package and hold it horizontally.

To avoid potential contamination, be careful not to touch the end of the applicator that will hold the solution.

Step 3: Place one drop of generic Latisse® solution on the area closest to the tip of the applicator, but not on the tip.

Step 4: Apply at the base of the upper eyelashes, from the inner part of your lash line to the outer part.

Immediately apply to upper eyelashes after putting the solution on the applicator. Apply as close to the lashes as possible, where the lashes meet the skin. Direction should go from the inside corner of the eye, next to the nose, to the outer corner of the eye. Be mindful not to apply the solution anywhere but on the lash line.

Step 5: Dab excess solution beyond eyelid with a tissue.

If you accidentally get solution on lower lashes or anywhere outside of the upper lash line, remove immediately with a tissue, cloth or cotton swab.

Step 6: Dispose of applicator.

Remember to not get any solution on your hands.

Step 7: Repeat process with a new applicator for the other eye.

Do not reuse applicators. Using a new applicator for each eye and each application is critical to preventing the spread of bacteria.

When to Apply Generic Latisse®

Generic Latisse®should be applied once daily. The face must be clean, free from makeup and contact lenses must be removed. For most individuals, applying generic Latisse® is more convenient in the evening as part of a nighttime routine that already includes the above steps. However, if you prefer a morning application, you can apply to a clean face and wait at least 15 minutes before putting contacts back in.2

Application Tips & Reminders

To accomplish the best results and use generic Latisse® safely, there are a few things you should know.

  • Generic Latisse® should be used daily for 16 consecutive weeks. If you stop use, the progress of lash growth will stall or return to original state.

  • If you stop using generic Latisse®, lashes will slowly return to their previous appearance.

  • Do not apply to lower lid or in the eye. Blot any access solution with a tissue or cotton ball.

  • Use only the sterile applicators included with your prescription, and do not touch the sterile applicators with fingers or unintended surfaces.

  • Use a new applicator for each eye to avoid spreading bacteria or infection from one eye to another.

  • Always remove contact lenses before using generic Latisse®. Contacts can be reinserted 15 minutes after application.

  • If you miss a dose, do not double doses. Apply one dose the next day or evening.

  • Hair growth can occur outside of the intended eye area if generic Latisse® frequently touches other skin.

  • Generic Latisse® will not cause harm to your eye. If solution gets in the eye, do not flush with water or other solution.

Tips for Eyelash Growth Success

To achieve the best results possible with bimatoprost eyelash serum, here are a few tips for success to follow.

Find a routine. The best eyelash growth results will come from consistent daily application. Try incorporating generic Latisse® into your nighttime routine with brushing your teeth, washing your face or taking medication.

Pair with other items. Store generic Latisse® near your toothbrush, skin care or other routinely used items. When you see it, it’s easier to remember.
